Tour Updates
Back in the Midwest
Hey everyone!
I'm writing this en route to Davenport, Iowa to play our show at the fantastically named Raccoon Motel. Derision Cult just played here back in May.
Back Among Friends
We just played in Madison last night at the fantastic Crucible and it was a great show. Good to be in a part of the country where old friends and family are around.
Of course Friday is Cold Waves in Chicago — the final of the three Cold Waves gigs we've done. Before that I get a day off with the family, which I'm really excited for.
It's rare on a tour you get to sleep in your own bed in the middle of it. I'm told not to do this because it messes with your head, but fuck it.
Learning From The PIG Machine
Shows have been fantastic and it's been great meeting people. I can say for a fact I'm learning a lot out here with Raymond Watts and the whole PIG machine.
I want to say THANK YOU to Derision Cult fans who've said hi at gigs. It really makes me smile when I see DC shirts out there — especially in places I know we haven't played, like San Francisco.
What's Next For Derision Cult
Sean and I have been talking about wrapping the next batch of songs as fast as possible, along with Jesse and Brad, so we can get out there and see all of you on the road.
We're leaning into things in almost opposite directions on the next material. It's both harder and more moody all at the same time.
There'll be some heavier things than we've ever done and, oddly, more into the country elements without being too obvious. Expect a lot of collaborators from this new lot.
Eastward
There's also some collaborations and live guest appearances I can't really talk about yet in the works, but so far we're having a blast out here.
There's still maybe 20-odd shows left on the Hurt People tour, and we point the PIG wagon eastward now that we've thoroughly covered the west.
