Greetings From Somewhere Out West

Hey all!

Thank you to everyone who’s come out to the PIG shows. The Hurt People tour is off to a great start. We’re about ten shows into it as I’m writing this, and the reception has been incredible.

It’s such an honor to be playing with Raymond Watts. Every night I hear stories from fans about how much PIG’s music has meant to them — how it got them through hard times, changed the way they looked at music, or, apparently, enabled them to lose their virginity in a few cases.

I genuinely appreciate hearing those stories. There’s something pretty amazing about getting to stand onstage every night and then meet people who have carried this music with them for years.

Right now, we’re on our way to Eureka, California, then it’s Sacramento, San Francisco, and the first of three Cold Waves appearances in Los Angeles.

Also, a HUGE thanks to the Derision Cult friends and fans who have come out to say hi.

We’ve spent a lot of time on this run in the northwest corner of America — territory where Derision Cult obviously hasn’t played much — and the reception has been amazingly warm.

We’ve also made some great connections with bands and people out here, and after seeing what the scene is like firsthand, I think there’s a very strong possibility you’ll see Derision Cult heading this direction in 2027.

New Record. New Ideas. New Damage.

The Hurt People tour runs through October 18. After that, we have a new Derision Cult album pretty much in the can, and we’ll be moving at a punk-rock clip to get those tracks finished and out the door so we can get back to playing.

I have to admit, being in the PIG camp has also seriously inspired me on the merch front. Raymond and I spend a lot of time talking about records, touring, presentation, merch, and all the strange little things that make a band’s world feel like its own universe.

I’m walking away from this tour with a boatload of ideas.

And if you’re new to Derision Cult because of this tour, welcome to the fold. Hope you dig what you hear.

It’s been an honor playing with PIG, and I’m enjoying every second of this ridiculous adventure — but there’s plenty happening on the Derision Cult side of the fence too.
